From Hospice Support Car to TV Police Vehicle

A former hospice support car from King’s Lynn has taken on an entirely new role after being sold through Anglia Car Auctions (ACA), going on to appear as a police vehicle in major TV and film productions.
 
The car, a 2019 Kia Ceed, was previously used by Tapping House Hospice to support nurses and care staff delivering vital services across the local community. When the time came to replace it, the hospice entered the vehicle into ACA’s weekly King’s Lynn car auction.
 
From that point, the car’s journey took an unexpected direction. 
 
Knowing the car’s background, ACA’s team worked to get the best possible result for the hospice charity. As a modern, reliable hatchback with potential for TV use, ACA contacted ELS Action, one of the leading UK suppliers of vehicles for the TV and film industry.
 
After ELS successfully bought the car at auction, they carried out a full transformation, converting the former hospice vehicle into a realistic police car. The work included applying authentic police-style graphics using 3M Battenberg blue and yellow markings, alongside rear chevrons. Blue lights were added to both the roof and grille, completing the look for on-screen use.
 
Since its conversion, the car has already featured in several well-known productions. It has appeared in Grace, filmed in Brighton, as well as Luther: The Fallen Sun. It has also been used in Supercell on Apple TV, with further high-profile appearances expected.

Anglia Car Auctions waived its fees and commission for the sale, ensuring that Tapping House Hospice received the full proceeds.
