This Fiat 500 is a LHD “recreation” of the Abarth 595, bought a few years ago as a standard 1971 Fiat 500L, and since then the following work has been carried out:

  • Installation of a reconditioned 650cc engine from Ricambi, costing £2900, with all parts replaced or reconditioned. Since fitting, this engine has done approx 350 miles and we're told it is now properly run it.
  • New fuel tank
  • Refurbished Cromodora wheels with 4 new tyres.
  • Abarth lowered suspension from Autobella
  • New leather Abarth instrument binnacle
  • New Abarth steering wheel (beautiful!)
  • New bumpers front and rear
  • Abarth engine opening brackets and straps
  • Abart period badging
  • New set of interior mats and additional boot mat
  • Heuer stopwatch (not working) fitted to dash.

The vendor describes the Fiat as “not concours but very very tidy, and a perfect car for the summer”. Its odometer shows 138 (which we believe represents kilometers).

The original car was built in 1971 but first registered in the UK in 2000. Its V5C shows 5 formers keepers in the UK. The history file contains various MoT certificates, an original handbook, and a collection of receipts, mostly from the last few years and including the £2900 reconditioned engine.

The change of engine has not yet been recorded with the DVLA.
